8 WEEKS

How far along? 8 weeks
Baby’s Size: Baby is about the size of a kidney bean this week - about 1 inch or so long.
Total Weight Gain: About 2lbs total since before baby
Bellybutton: Innie
Stretchmarks: Nope
Maternity Clothes: Yep!
Gender: Team Healthy Baby! We plan to be surprised again :)
Movement: Can't feel baby yet, but it apparently is already able to swim around like a fish!
Sleep: For the most part it has been good, typically only waking up once a night to use the bathroom.
Symptoms: Tired, very tender boobs, expanding waist line.
Food Aversions: Nothing in particular this week, still not that into any mexican food or dishes.
Food Cravings: I really wanted circus peanuts this week as a snack and peanut butter & jelly on english muffins.
Best Moments this week: Got to make my first "in Office" visit with my OB.  I have to have lab work done in the next few weeks and our fist visit will be 2/24 - we get to hear the heartbeat!
What I miss: My energy. By the end of the day I am sooooo tired.
What I am Looking forward to: Ditching this nausea/queasy tummy that comes around dinner time recently. Hearing the heartbeat on 2/24

Don't forget to vote on the Baby's gender in the poll I created (on the right side of the blog)!!

7 Week Update

How far along? 7 weeks (and 1 day) 230 more to go
Baby’s Size: Baby has doubled in size since last week and now measures half an inch long, about the size of a blueberry!
Total Weight Gain: Not much different than last week, scale wise, but I am starting to get a nice little bump
Bellybutton: Innie
Stretchmarks: Nope
Maternity Clothes: Yes, wearing maternity pants. My regular pants just were not working any more.
I do have to do some shopping because my preggo pants from when I was carrying Aiden seem to be a bit short or shrunken in the length (hello, highwaters, lol!).
Gender: Team Healthy Baby! We plan to be surprised again :)
Movement: Not yet
Sleep: Lots of it! I have been going to bed about 9pm every night :)
Symptoms: I was pretty nauseous all last week - not sure if I had a little stomach bug or what, but it was awful. Baby was kicking my butt!
Food Aversions: Mexican! Don't want anything to do with it any more - yuck!
Food Cravings: No real cravings this week or overall - I think I have more food aversions than cravings right now probably because I have been feeling crummy.
Best Moments this week: I had a 4 day weekend and got to spend Friday & Monday at home with Aiden :)
What I miss: Nothing so far...enjoying every minute of it!
What I am Looking forward to: Ditching this nausea/queasy tummy that comes around dinner time recently.
Milestones: Broke out my box of maternity clothes and started wearing maternity pants

Just a Quickie

I told myself when I started this blog that I would try to blog regularly and not go for days with nothing new posted...drives me nuts when I check other blogs and there isn't anything new for me to stalk for days or weeks at a  time, lol.  However, this last week was a bit rough.  Baby #2 was kicking my butt....for the last almost full week I have been so nauseous that even getting dressed in the morning was a challenge!  Thankfully, as of yesterday I am starting to feel a bit better - hope this feeling better trend continues!  I still am having moments of being queasy...but not all day long like last week! I even managed to do some dishes and vacuum the house after lunch today - woohoo! (I have today off for MLK day - so Aiden and I get to spend an extra day hanging out together!)  Look for our 7 week update sometime tomorrow!! :)
Oh...and guess what?!?

75 days until the Terpstra Family Cruise
232 days until Baby #2 is due

6 Weeks!

How far along? 6 weeks
Baby’s Size: The size of a lentil - about a quarter of an inch long! Baby's nose, mouth and ears are starting to take shape this week - the eyes show up as dark spots and his/her arms and legs are little protruding buds!
Total Weight Gain: So I actually weighed myself and have only gained about a pound - not too bad since we are just coming off of the holidays!
Bellybutton: Innie
Stretchmarks: Nope
Maternity Clothes: Getting close to needing my maternity pants - so far the rubber band trick has worked okay, but not the greatest.
Gender: Team Healthy Baby! We plan to be suprised again :)
Movement: Not yet
Sleep: Lots of it! I have been going to bed about 9pm every night :)
Symptoms: I am starting to get a little "bump" and my boobs are very tender :/
Food Aversions: Nothing really
Food Cravings: Spicy food...Mexican preferably!
Best Moments this week: Figuring out that taking my vitamins at dinner works much better and not being nauseous in the morning!
What I miss: Nothing so far...enjoying every minute of it!
What I am Looking forward to: Scheduling my first in-office visit and getting to hear the baby's heart beat - even though that still won't be for a few more weeks.

Big Boy Bed

For the last few months (even before we knew about Baby #2) we had been planning to move Aiden up to a "big boy" bed.  We figured that moving him after the holidays would give him plenty of time to get used to a regular bed before we go on our cruise at the end of March (where he wouldn't have a crib to sleep in) and we thought the transition to a "big boy" bed would be the perfect time to ditch his paci (woohoo!). So yesterday Scott and I spent a good portion of the day cleaning out the guest room - who knew how much stuff could fit into the dresser and closet!  After emptying the guest room, I did a complete clean and Scott moved the bed for me (so it was away from the windows and in the corner of the room).  At Target last week I bought this bedding set for Aiden (in queen sized, lucky boy! - since we decided to keep the bed that was in the guest room, minus the girly head board). For now all Aiden has in his room is his bed and a night table with a lamp and his favorite books.  I hope to find some air planes to hang from the ceiling and some prints of classic cars for the walls.  Once his room is all complete I will be sure to post before and after pictures!

So last night Aiden spent his first night in his new "big boy" bed and bedroom.  He was SO excited to sleep in his new bed last night that he could hardly contain himself!  I had to keep taking him off the bed as I made it up and once it was ready for him, you would have thought it was Christmas all over again!  It took Aiden about an hour to fall asleep and his first night in a "big boy" bed was a success (except for being woken up by coughing, poor boy is fighting a cold). He didn't even ask for his paci! Here are a few pictures I snapped right before bedtime of the happy boy in his new bed.

Who Knew?

Who knew that a small laundry basket would be so much fun!  Aiden really wanted to play with our big basket, but it was full of clean clothes so I wouldn't let him.  He found the smaller basket and had so much fun playing before bed last night!

All Snuggled Up!

I went to wake Aiden the other day and when I walked into his room I thought he had somehow managed to crawled out of his crib.  It wasn't until I looked closer that I saw this tiny fluff of blonde hair sticking out from a nest of blankets.
Where's Aiden?

Holiday Rewind

In all the excitement with finding out we have a new little bun baking in my oven - I didn't even post about the holidays at all!  We had a wonderful Christmas season and had so much fun ringing in the new year!

Merry Christmas 2011
The VanWieren's

We started off celebrating Christmas the week before by spending a Saturday evening having dinner at my Grandma & Grandpa B's with my parents and brother and all of my aunts, uncles and cousins.  We sure had a house full - in all I think there were 30 of us there!

Aiden with Great Grandma & Grandpa B
Traditionally the Sunday before Christmas is spent with my dads extended family - his aunts, uncles, cousins, second cousins, third cousins...and etc.  Our group is so big (130 I think one of the Great Aunts said) that we have to rent a hall to hold us all!  We eat a huge dinner, the kids all gather and sing Christmas carols and Santa even stops by for a visit.  Poor Aiden was TERRIFIED of the jolly man in the red suit.  Not only did Aiden want NOTHING to do with Santa, he even cried when some of his other cousins sat on Santa's lap.  He kept saying Santa GO HOME! Even though he was bawling his eyes out, you couldn't help but laugh a bit at his reaction.

Christmas Eve and part of Christmas morning were spent at my mom & dad's house.  On Saturday we had a steak dinner (yum!) before going to the candelite Christmas Eve service at church and then we were up bright and early Christmas morning to open presents with Mom, Dad and James.  We all got a ton of great stuff and Aiden got the most beautiful kitchen set made by my parents! He loves playing with it - anything that can fit into the oven goes in the oven to "bake."

Aiden with Grammy & Papa

After opening gifts at my parents we loaded up the van and drove back to Holland and spent the rest of Christmas Day with Scotts family. When we arrived we had brunch with his mom, dad, sister, brother-in-law, brother and brothers girlfriend. After brunch we opened even more gifts and Aiden got a lawn mower (that he now loves to chase our dog Jack with), shopping cart and tons of clothes!  This kid made out like a bandit between both sides of the family!

Aiden with Nana & Grandpa

The week between Christmas and New Years was spent celebarting the holidays with even more family (Scott's side) and spending extra time with Matt & Kat before they went home to Colorado.  We rang in the New Year by spendign NYE at my cousin Jeff's house with a group of 16 couples (Aiden hang out with Grammy & Papa at my Aunt Dee & Uncle Les' house).  And then again on New Years Day we went back to Jeff & Lisa's house and celebrated Christmas with my mom's side of the family.  Dinner was delicious and we had SO many desserts that it was hard to choose which to eat!  Aiden had a blast playing with off of his cousins and we had fun looking at our Terpstra Christmas book and all the new pages that were added this year.

Terpstra Family Christmas 2011
Its amazing how fast 2011 went and the very end of the year was so busy with all of our holiday plans that I can hardly still believe that its 2012!! Here's to a year filled with great things to come - the Terpstra Family Cruise (March, 2012), my cousins wedding in Texas (May, 2012??), 4th of July camping at Higgins Lake with a huge group of family (July, 2012) and Baby #2 (September, 2012).  Whew! Our 2012 is busy aready and we are only on day 3 of 365!
